Field Application Engineer

Due to increased demand and volume, we are expanding our Field Services team. We are currently seeking Field Application Engineers to join our team in the Los Angeles and San Francisco Bay areas. The positions require a professional with at least 5 years experience in industrial/utility/public works and/or telecommunications support. The primary purpose of the Field Application Engineer is to support the installation and maintenance of units in both a pre and post sales capacity.

Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing excellent technical service to customers across the entire spectrum of company solutions including hardware, communications and data management
  • Providing technical input into company product roadmap processes
  • Providing customer input to Engineering and Operations

Pre-Sales support

  • Responding to specific customer questions regarding company products and solutions
  • Work with Account Management to develop and implement winning strategies and plans for specific accounts

Post-Sales support

Qualifications:

Candidates will have the following experience and technical requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial/utility/public works and/or telecommunications design/support (renewable energy project experience is a plus)
  • Experience and proven ability to configure/deploy embedded controllers and/or wireless routers and power line communication devices
  • Knowledge and experience in system protection, system planning, voltage control, metering and automation Solid foundation in electrical engineering fundamentals including control systems, power electronics theory and wireless communications (experience with Mesh networks is a plus)
  • Technical knowledge of solar and LED lighting technology at a granular and system level
  • Understanding of power system diagrams and schematics
  • Familiarity with photovoltaic production estimating software tools

Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Planning materials needs and procurement of goods and services in support of producing products.

Lead Network/System Engineer

We are seeking a Lead Network/System Engineer to architect, scale, and support our production networks and cloud hosted data center. As the Lead Network/System Engineer you will be responsible for the operations and management of the customer deployed wireless mesh networks, administration of data center network and applications, and development and implementation of security policies.

The scope of the role includes evaluation of network designs, resolution of complex networking problems, and leading network and system capacity planning. Engagement and collaboration with external customers to explain Petra's network architecture and design will also be required. As an ideal candidate you will have a strong knowledge of key network and security protocols, efficient administration techniques, and troubleshooting abilities as well as experience in designing network architecture.

In this role the Lead Network/System Engineer will:

Monitor and maintain our cloud architecture and infrastructure

Improve deployment and monitoring practices for high availability applications

Lead network capacity planning and upgrade path

Develop network architecture and design to accommodate new products and services

    Manufacturing Manager

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Responsible for planning and executing the company's manufacturing operations through:

    • Being the liaison between the Engineering Department and manufacturing process
    • Managing the relation with Contract Manufacturers in country and offshore
    • Supervising testing engineers and manufacturing staff off shore.

    Ensures that all manufacturing operations, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with company quality, policy and procedures. Implements manufacturing policies, standards and procedures at contract manufacturers. Evaluates and negotiate potential contracts with contract manufactures and conducts quality audits of existing contract manufacturers.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Create and execute the company Manufacturing Plans and Schedules.
    • Ensures that engineering documentation for manufacturing is available on time and on schedule. Serves as primary liaison between the Engineering Department and Contract Manufacturers.
    • Serves as the primary interface with contract manufacturers.
    • Recommends and implements manufacturing policies, standards, and processes at contract manufacturers. Assures that procedures and work instructions are efficient and according to standard of the industry.
    • Offers new ideas and suggestions for improvement. Provides technical advice and resolves technical problems and de-bugging of products or processes. Identifies and implements new practices and processes that are "best in field".
    • Drives improvements in manufacturing processes through the application of lean techniques and investment in new techniques.
    • Establishes clear measureable goals and objectives by which to determine contract manufacturers' performance against operational metrics, results against projected timelines, training documentation, and safety.
    • Recommends and implements methods and procedures for monitoring and continuous quality improvement at contract manufacturers. Drives continuous improvement through trend reporting analysis and metrics management. Conducts periodic quality audits and monitors adherence to quality standards and processes.
    • Assesses the adequacy of data gathering methods utilized by contract manufacturers.
    • Negotiate terms and conditions with contract manufacturers related to quality, and production goals.
    • Forecasts future requirements and technical trends to drive contract manufacturers in their technology roadmap. Reviews status reports and modifies schedules or plans as required.
    • Verifies reconfiguration requirements and monitors line moves.
    • Explores and monitors new processes and procedures to support contract manufacturers expanding requirements.
    • Reviews and recommends selection of suppliers to contract manufacturers to assure quality and conformance to specifications.
    • Tracks manufacturing industry trends, relevant legislation, and competitor activities.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Manufacturing staff based in China (2 people)
    • Testing Engineer (1)

    QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE (Must have all of them):

    • 5-10 year experience in medium/high volume manufacturing of a high technology company
    • 5-10 year experience in manufacturing through Contract Manufactures
    • 5-10 year experience in manufacturing with CMs located in China

    EDUCATION:

    As Product Manager, you will guide the vision for the Smart City Solution and drive new products from initial prototype to successful delivery and market adoption.     • Working with engineering team to develop company product roadmap by collecting technical input from clients and understanding competitive technologies

    • Partnering with Product Manager to provide Pre-Sales and Post-Sales support from a technical perspective, including:
